1940: First Dairy Queen® store opens in Joliet, Illinois.
1953: First DQ® store opens in Canada.
1959: The DQ® brand debuts in Panama, the first international store outside the US and Canada.
1979: The DQ® system debuts in Bahrain.
1985: More than 175 million Blizzard® Flavor Treats sold in its first year.
1991: The DQ® brand expands to China.
2001: The first DQ Grill & Chill® restaurant opens in the USA.
2005: The world record is set on June 21, when the World's
Largest Blizzard® Flavor Treat was built in Springfield, Mass.
It weighed 8,224.85 pounds and was 22 feet tall.
2008: The DQ® system celebrates the opening of the
500th location outside of the US and Canada in the Philippines!
2010: The Blizzard® Flavor Treat celebrates its 25th Birthday and the DQ® system celebrates the opening of the 700th location outside of the US and Canada!
