Captain of Winning Team in the Dairy Queen® Oreo® Blizzard® 100 Contest Awarded $100,000

TEANECK/ROCHELLE PARK, N.J. – Teaneck resident Stacey Davis said it took her nearly five minutes to stop screaming when she found out her team, the Cool Champs, won the Dairy Queen^® Oreo^® Blizzard^® 100 contest, a unique location-based, social media-driven initiative that the Dairy Queen system launched in May to celebrate the 100th birthday of Oreo.  As captain and coordinator of her eight-member team, Davis was honored at a celebration for family and friends at the Rochelle Park Dairy Queen restaurant at 449 Rochelle Ave., on Thurs., Oct. 4 at 2 p.m., where she was presented a giant ceremonial check for $100,000 and everyone enjoyed Oreo Blizzard Cake.

Teams entering the Oreo Blizzard 100 were tasked to check-in on a mobile device through Facebook Places or dq.com/oreo at least 100 times at multiple DQ^® locations for the chance to win $100,000. The Cool Champs team members checked in 117 times during the three-month quest. Davis, who works at Fairleigh Dickinson University, said she belongs to several contest groups but when she saw this special opportunity, she decided just to share it with family and friends.

"I wanted this to touch the people I know, so I posted the request to join my team on Facebook," Davis explained.

The Cool Champs team was comprised of eight members from five states including Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.        

"The Oreo 100 was one of the Dairy Queen system's first promotional challenges where in-store visits were reported and tracked through social media applications," said Tim Hawley, vice president of Marketing Communications for American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ). "We were so excited with the enthusiastic response from DQ fans as teams from around the country reached the 100-store check-in mark. We congratulate Stacey and her team for winning our challenge."

Davis said her local DQ restaurant is right down the street from Fairleigh Dickinson and her two favorite treats are dipped cones and Cookie Dough Blizzard Treats. She and her husband Sinclair, a full-time student at the university, said they plan to use some of the prize money to pay bills and start a college fund for their 14-month-old son.

"Mommy needs a spa day though and I will treat myself to that," Davis added.
